Example tour 18 days/17 nights Gambia and Senegal
(South-East)

*Day 1: Arrival Banjul airport. Drive to Mandinari River Lodge. Depending on the arrival time you have time to discover the area around the lodge (Tanbi Wetlands) and the beautiful garden with own bird hide of the lodge.

*Day 2: Morning walk through the mangroves, rice fields and wetlands of Mandinari. Afternoon walk to the petrol station area where many raptors can be found.

*Day 3: After breakfast we start driving to Tendaba Camp (142 km) with stop in Farasutu forest on the way going. Arrival in the camp around lunchtime. After being settled in your room you visit one of the two bird hides around the camp.

*Day 4: Breakfast at 7.30am, morning boat trip to the mangroves on the north bank of the river Gambia. After lunch and relax time for the guide, we discover the Kwinella bushtrack.

*Day 5: After breakfast we start driving to Kudang (114 km) Kakuba Garden Hotel. Road birding and stops at wetlands and rice fields on the way going. Lunch in Kakuba Garden and evening walk around the area.

*Day 6: From Kudang we are driving to Bansang (60km)where we stay in River side lodge, the lodge is located on the riverbank and have a beautiful flowergarden. In Bansang quarry we visit the colony of red-throated bee-eaters.

*Day 7: After breakfast we start driving towards the border with Senegal . When all the paperwork is done we drive up to the south-east of Senegal (140km) where we are going to spend the rest of the day in Campement de Wassadou, a unique place deep in the bush, with lots of birds and mammals. You will enjoy!!

*Day 8: Today we have an early breakfast before driving to our next location in Kedougou (370km). We drive through Niokolo-Koba National Parc which is on the world Heritage list of UNESCO. In Kedougou we visit the Dindefelo waterfalls.

*Day 9: We spend the day in the area for birding and photographing . The National Parc has about 350 bird species and 80 species of mammals.

*Day 10: Drive back to Wassadou, where we stay another night in Campement de Wassadou, before traveling back to The Gambia

*Day 11: On our way back to The Gambia , border crossing and some stops on the way for birding.

*Day 12: Today we go from the South bank to the North bank of the Gambia . We cross the river with the local ferry in Georgetown and drive towards Kuntaur. Evening walk through the ricefields of Kuntaur.

*Day 13: Morning walk in Wassu quarry where we meet another colony of red throated bee-eaters. In the afternoon, after lunch- and relax time, we do the boat trip to the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project.

*Day 14: *Day 8: After breakfast we drive along the north bank towards Jajari village (115 km), with road birding and stops on the way. Lunch in Morgan Kunda lodge and relax time in the beautiful garden of the lodge. Evening walk in the surrounding of the lodge.

*Day 15: We take the Senegambia bridge to return to the south bank of The Gambia and stay another night in Tendaba Camp (70 km). In the afternoon we visit the second bird hide.

*Day 16: From Tendaba Camp we start driving to Bintang Bolong Lodge (76 km) with birding stops on the way and a visit to the bird hide in Killy. Evening walk in the area of the lodge.

*Day 17: After breakfast we drive to Marakissa, where we discover the wetlands, the rest of the day we relax in the garden of the lodge where many bird species come for drinking at the little pools that are placed everywhere in the camp.

*Day 18: From Marakissa we start driving back to the coast.Depending on the flight hours, we spend the morning in Kotu or in Lamin ricefields before driving you back to the airport.

*Day 9: Today we cross the border with Senegal in farafeni, after the
paperwork at the border we drive up to Kaolack (106 km) , the city is located on the banks of the river Saloum. After check-in and lunch in the hotel we do an afternoon walk to the riverside where flamingo’s, black storks and other birds can be seen

*Day 10: Morning walk to the riverside and discover the little garden with
drinking place for birds in the hotel. Afternoon walk to Ndiaffatte village where we cross the river to Kousmar Island, well known as the place where a colony of swallow-tailed kites are coming to sleep every evening.

*Day 11 : After breakfast we start driving to Toubacouta (70 km), a little village in the Sine Saloum delta, a paradise for birders and photographers! Lunch and relax time at the lodge or hotel, afternoon walk around the area.

*Day 12: Boat trip through the Saloum delta up to the ocean for bird

*Day 13: After breakfast we start driving towards the Gambian border, where we take the ferry from Barra to Banjul. This can take some time, but it’s worth it! After ferry crossing we drive to our next location and lodge in Kartong (63 km). Afternoon walk to the wetlands of Kartong.

*Day 14: Morning walk to the Kartong Bird watching Observatory and the beach. After lunch we make a beautiful boat trip on the river Halahin.

*Day 15: After breakfast we start driving to the next lodge (38 km), with stops along the way in Gunjur . After lunch in Tanji we settle in Tanema Creek Lodge. Afternoon walk around the lodge

*Day 17: After breakfast we leave the lodge and go for a morning walk and
boat trip to Kotu bridge. After having lunch in a local restaurant we start driving back to Mandinari River lodge, where we started this tour. Free time in the lodge.

*Day 18: Depending of the flight hours we spend the morning in Lamin rice fields or Abuku nature reservere before bringing you to the airport
